Pastor Shimmy made the Lord Jesus his personal Saviour at the age of 16 ( 30 years ago), has been married for more than 22 years and been in ministry “from the day I got Born Again and started holding crusades and mass meetings in my own school and surrounding schools with Christian Friends. I had my first convert on 22 January 1980, seven days after my conversion, and my second spiritual son two weeks later; and both are still in the Lord now, with the second convert having been a preacher for years now both in South Africa and Botswana”

Shimmy presently is Pastor of Family Worship Centre in Midway, SOWETO, South Africa and oversees Pastors under the “Shimmy Kotu Ministries” and “Family Worship Centre” in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia,and Kenya.

Besides his DD, he holds several University and College Qualifications which include Post Graduate Degrees in Human Resources Management and Business Administration. These are complimented by various qualifications in Emergency Management Services and Pre – Hospital Care, including Critical Care and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

Besides his ministry activities, he is the Managing Director of few Companies which include SA 1 EMERGENCY (PTY) LTD, TIRO Business, BEE and HR Solutions, Chi Kotu Importers and Exporters (PTY) LTD,through which he “earns/makes” a living as a Business, Management, Organizational and Change / Transformation Management Consultant; Exporter/Importer and Industrial / Household Chemical Manufacturer.
He is the erstwhile Assistant Ambulance Chief for the City of Johannesburg, Chief of Staff for the Johannesburg Emergency Management Services, Executive Officer for Labour / Industrial Relations for the Western Metro Council, and Executive Director for Prison Fellowship South Africa.

International Recognition

He has been honoured with the following credentials:

•  In 2000, the US Fund for Leadership Development listed him 5th in a compilation of 40 of the World’s “Most Extraordinary Leaders”
•  In 2001, The National Assembly (Parliament) of the Republic of South Africa adopted a unanimous Resolution in recognition of the work his organization, Prison Fellowship, was doing nationally under his Executive Directorship initially and Chairmanship later, and internationally in partnership with Prison Fellowship International.
•  In 2001, the Latvian Government (East Europe), gave him their highest Justice Award for his contribution towards Criminal Justice Reforms, Restorative Justice Initiatives and Crime Victims and Offender Rehabilitation Programmes.
